The Penn Highlands Nursing Scholars
Become a nurse, launch your career at Penn Highlands, and receive up to $40,000 in loan repayment funds!
Through a special partnership with Penn Highlands Healthcare, GMercyU Nursing students can apply to Penn Highlands Nursing Scholars program.
Once you graduate, become licensed, and launch your career at either at Penn Highlands DuBois or Penn Highlands Mon Valley hospitals, the health system will make monthly payments towards your educational loan debt, up to $40,000 over three years of employment.
You can leave the program at any time. If you do so before completing your work commitment, you forfeit any further loan repayments made by the health system but are not required to reimburse any payments already made on your behalf.

Who Is Eligible
- Students in one of these GMercyU Nursing programs:
- Be in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 2.3
- Be a United States Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with residency under DACA or TPS programs
- Be at least 18 years old
Selection isn’t guaranteed simply by meeting the criteria.
Your Next Steps
- Enroll as a new or returning GMercyU BSN student
- Apply to the Penn Highlands Nursing Scholars program 18-24 months before completing your degree
