New Student Orientation

The New Student Orientation program prepares students for academic success, fosters positive relationships with all members of our community, connects students to supportive resources and instills in students the GMercyU mission and core values.
Is Orientation required?
Orientation is required for all incoming first-year students as well as some transfer students depending on the number of credits transferred from their previous institution.
When is New Student Orientation?
New Student Orientation is August 22, 2019 – August 25, 2019.
When is Transfer Orientation?
Transfer Orientation is Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
How do I register?
Can my family also attend?
Families are welcome to attend orientation! We encourage students to bring their college support system. Students and their family members follow a separate orientation schedule. Family Orientation is 11:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. on August 22, 2019.
Do family members need to register?
It is suggested that you make Family Orientation reservations as part of your orientation reservation process. Please discuss with your family whether or not they would like to attend Family Orientation. You will be asked to enter the number of guests attending orientation. Complimentary lunch will be provided for you and two guests. Additional lunch tickets can be purchased for $5.
If I am living on campus, when will I find out where I will be living and who my roommate is?
Housing assignment letters will be mailed home the first week in July and will contain your building, room, and roommate contact information.
When do I move into my residence hall room if I'm living on campus?
First-year students move into the residence halls on Thursday, August 22, 2019. Your housing assignment letter will include the specific time and location of resident student check-in. If you are a student-athlete participating in a fall sport, please refer to the move-in schedule provided to you by your coach and Residence Life.

I'm a transfer student, what should I know?
Transfer Student Orientation will introduce you to the culture, traditions, and expectations of Gwynedd Mercy University and prepare you for your first semester. You will also receive the information and resources you need to be successful in your college experience.
Transfer Student Orientation is highly recommended, if you have any questions, please contact Assistant Director for New Student Orientation and Student Activities Danielle Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org. Schedule coming soon!
I’m a first-year student, what should I know?
New Student Orientation will introduce you to the culture, traditions, and expectations of Gwynedd Mercy University and prepare you for your first semester. You will also receive the information and resources you need to be successful in your college experience.
The weekend begins with Move-in Day and includes service projects, our famous Casino Night, campus BBQ, and tons of info sessions and activities. You will also officially be inducted into Griffin Nation at our Griffinnation Celebration!
