MSSLP Program Hosts Parent-Child Workshop, Free Hearing Screenings
This June, Dr. Karen Fallon, Director of the Speech-Language Pathology Program, held an Early Literacy Parent-Child Workshop with three MSSLP graduate students at the North Wales Library.
The workshop helped parents empower their children’s future by learning to use important home literacy strategies in everyday routines.
Parents learned how to:
Built into the MSSLP program, students provide speech and language services in community placements while guided by GMercyU faculty who are licensed and certified SLPs. This unique approach provides first-year students with the opportunity to actively engage in the evaluation and intervention process, including administering comprehensive assessments and delivering personalized therapy sessions.
GMercyU's MSSLP also holds free hearing-screening events both on and off campus, offering community members a great opportunity to check on their hearing health. Screenings are conducted by graduate students in the Speech-Language Pathology program under faculty supervision (who are licensed and certified speech-language pathologists).
