GMercyU Business Professor Receives 2016 Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award

Gwynedd Mercy University assistant professor in accounting and business Carlo Silvesti, CPA, CGMA, MBA is this year's recipient of The Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award. 

Professor Silvesti will receive the honor at GMercyU's 67th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Professor Silvesti has been a member of the GMercyU faculty since 2006 and teaches courses in all aspects of accounting, as well as Principles of Management and Economics. Prior to teaching at GMercyU, he served as a financial officer in middle market-sized businesses for 35 years and served as president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He has brought his strong network of contacts to GMercyU and is an invaluable asset to students looking for internships. 

Professor Silvesti continues to work with the PICPA as a member of its Colleges and Universities Committee and the Accounting and Auditing Commitee. He has been instrumental in bringing the PICPA Accounting Fair here to campus, a program that is held to develop career awareness and provide opportunities for students to meet potential employers. 

The Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award for Distinguished Teaching is presented every three years biennially at commencement to a faculty member who has demonstrated extraordinary devotion to the quality and importance of classroom teaching, excelled as a master teacher, and been a significant mentor and model for students. The Faculty Development Committee solicits award nominations from students, faculty, and staff, and recommends a recipient to University President Kathleen Owens.
