GMercyU to Host Premiere and Album Release of In My Father's House: Grieco Requiem

Gwynedd Mercy University will welcome students, employees, alumni, and community members for the premiere and album release of In My Father's House: Grieco Requiem on Friday, October 23, at 8 p.m. in University Hall West 105. 

The event, which is free and open to the public, highlights GMercyU's continued commitment to the arts and creative expression as part of a Mercy education. 

Composed by Stephen J. Grieco, DMA, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the multimedia work brings together choir, soloists, orchestra, and visual media in an exploration of memory, faith, loss, and hope. 

"Gwynedd Mercy University felt like the natural place to premiere In My Father's House because of the University's commitment to the arts and the sense of connection and purpose that defines our campus," said Grieco. "Introducing this work here provides a fitting opportunity to reaffirm that commitment and celebrate the role the arts play in the life of the University." 

In addition to serving as GMercyU's chief academic officer, Dr. Grieco is an accomplished composer whose work has been performed and recorded nationally and internationally. His catalog includes more than 100 compositions spanning a variety of musical genres and formats. 

The premiere comes as GMercyU continues to expand opportunities in the arts through initiatives such as the Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry, the annual Creative and Performing Arts Showcase, public art installations across campus, and performances by the Voices of Gwynedd and other cultural groups. 

Following the performance, guests will have an opportunity to participate in a discussion with Dr. Grieco about the inspiration behind the work and his creative process.
