Evelyn Nunez-Lebron, EdD
Evelyn Nuñez is currently the Principal of Lewis Elkin Elementary School within the School District of Philadelphia. Ms. Nuñez began her career in 1993 as an elementary teacher. She taught in elementary grades for eight years and then became a Bilingual Literacy Coach training teachers with the School District of Philadelphia. After her tenth year in the Philadelphia School District, Ms. Nuñez left to work in the charter sector in Philadelphia and New Jersey for 12 years until her return to the School District of Philadelphia. She has served as Principal, Chief Academic Officer, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer amongst other roles.
Her educational experiences have afforded her the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well being of low-income students. Her educational philosophy is based on her uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family.
In the past 24 years, Ms. Nuñez has worked in urban K-12 educational systems of both public and charter schools. Her areas of expertise include but not limited to Instructional Leadership, Bilingual Education, Data- Informed Decision Making, School Climate and Culture, Principal and Teacher Evaluations, Professional Development and Cultural Competency.
Ms. Nuñez attended Chestnut Hill College where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1993, a Masters Degree and Principal Certification from Cheyney University in 2001, a Letter of Superintendent Certificate from Arcadia University in 2008 and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership in May 2017 from Gwynedd Mercy University.
