With a Bachelors Of Science in Radiologic Technology, students gain expertise in the operation of x-rays to diagnose and aid in diagnosing various patient diseases and conditions. Through the traditional 2+2 option, enrollees complete two years of coursework at Gwynedd Mercy University and then continue their education at a JRCERT accredited radiologic technology certificate program for two years. The student is responsible for application and acceptance into an accredited program. Upon completion, students receive a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic technology that qualifies them for a career as a radiologic technologist. With additional training and education, the graduate would also be qualified to work in advanced imaging modalities such as: Computed Tomography, Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Interventional Radiology and Bone Densitometry (DEXA). Graduates can also follow career paths in areas such as: administration, sales, applications, education and research.
There is also the option of completing the Bachelors in Radiologic Sciences through Thomas Jefferson University School of Health Professions. Jefferson offers the student the opportunity to follow a multi-competency program. The student opts to learn two types of imaging modalities in the junior and senior years. For example: Radiography followed by Computed Tomography. The student may also choose a career path in Sonography (ultrasound) or Nuclear Medicine. In order to transfer to Jefferson, the student must apply AND be accepted into the Jefferson School of Health Professions.
