Finance 2026
Current Position: Market and Wealth Services Analyst, Bank of New York
Story Posted: Summer 2026
This spring, Ksenia graduated a year early with a job already in place.
She will launch her career this August as a Market and Wealth Services Analyst for Bank of New York in Pittsburgh, PA, and credits her professors and GMercyU’s Career Development Center with playing pivotal roles in getting her to this point.
Experience in the Finance Program
Ksenia originally started at GMercyU in a different major. But after speaking with Finance program director Alan Harper, PhD, and GMercyU alumni in the field — and after learning about the program’s coursework and job opportunities in finance — she made the switch.
"I worked at Trumark Financial Credit Union as a sophomore, where I gained an interest in the banking industry," she explained. "I also spoke with Dr. Harper, and I just really liked the job opportunities and the way he talked about his classes," said Ksenia.
[You should choose GMercyU] because of how closeknit you'll become with the faculty, and the amount of time, effort, and energy they will put into helping you as a student. The professors and staff devote a lot of time to helping you become successful in your future career.
Internships
Ksenia completed paid internships at JFS Wealth Advisors in Doylestown and Blue Bell, Pa., where she gained a breadth of experience.
At the Blue Bell office, she worked in the tax department before transitioning to the portfolio management team, which trades different mutual funds and ETFs.
Landing the Job
Ksenia's opportunity at Bank of New York was the result of years of networking initially set up by GMercyU’s Career Development Center, who first connected her with finance professionals in the field. They helped Ksenia edit her resume to suit the industry, with one of the contacts becoming a very valuable mentor.
"[Career Development] was vital to my professional journey. They put me in contact with very important alumni connections who guided my development in the field of finance," said Ksenia.
Ksenia commends GMercyU’s Career Development Center by choosing the most helpful professionals to reach out to, including GMercyU alumni.
Life at GMercyU
In addition to her coursework and internships, Ksenia made time to stay involved on campus. As president of the Creative Arts Club, Ksenia served on the committee that organized the Creative and Performing Arts Showcase this fall.
Ksenia was also the President of GMercyU’s chapter of the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), where she guided students in goal setting and professional development workshops. She also planned different career development events for the Investment Club, where she served as Treasurer.
Career Goals
"I would be interested in getting my MBA, to deepen my knowledge of business management and strategy. I'm excited to start at Bank of New York and see what opportunities follow, as I grow within the organization and work toward a future management role."
