Erin Huggard graduated from Franklin Towne Charter High School in 2021.
I heard about Gwynedd Mercy University through my cousin since she graduated from there, but it wasn’t until I toured the school that I was sold on it. When touring the school, I loved the community and the people I met. Everyone was so welcoming and super excited for all the new freshman coming in.
Why Social Work
Erin chose Social Work because she wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives. In addition to Social Work, Erin is also minoring in Psychology and Counseling.
“My experience in the program has been amazing. I absolutely love all the classes I have taken in the program, and they have really helped me in my everyday life. The professors in the Social Work department and the psychology department are some of the best people I’ve ever met. They truly care about the future of their students and will do everything the can to be there for them and to support them,” shared Erin.
Involvement on Campus
On campus, Erin is a highly involved student. She is currently serving as the President for Student Activities Committee (SAC) and is a member of the Black Student Union (BSU). She is also a Student Government Association (SGA) representative for the Dance team and served as an Orientation Leader for the past two years.
In addition to her leadership roles, Erin is also a student employee on campus. She works in the Office for Student Engagement, serves as a peer mentor, works in Admissions as a Griffin Ambassador, and works in the dining hall once per week.
Outside of her club involvement and work experience, Erin has also participated in one Alternative Spring Break trip to Baltimore, MD.
After graduating, Erin plans to continue her education by seeking her master’s in Social Work.
“My dream is to become a medical social worker at a children’s hospital to support families and their children,” said Erin.
