Marketing 2027
GMercyU not only provided with me an understanding of marketing foundations, but also helped me discover which areas of marketing align best with my strengths.

Elizabeth attended Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, GMercyU’s neighbor across campus. She transferred to GMercyU after her freshman year of college and says her only regret is not coming sooner.
"The experience I’ve had at GMercyU has transformed me as a student. Originally, when I transferred, I just wanted to be close to home," she explained. "I never could have imagined how much I’ve come to love the community."
Experience in the Marketing Program
"I love that marketing allows me to blend creativity with analytical thinking, and I’m fascinated by how it influences the way people connect with brands and trends," she said of her Marketing major.
Last semester, she especially enjoyed her Integrated Marketing Communications class with Melissa Dennis, DBA, Chair of the Undergraduate Business Department. The course inspired her to think outside the box while strengthening her foundational marketing skills. It included a semester-long integrated marketing campaign, which reinforced the power of differentiation in marketing. The project also gave her an experience that she’s since referenced in interviews.
Elizabeth has complemented her degree by taking several Digital Communications courses with Assistant Professor Margaret Rakus, EdD.
"Of all the wonderful professors I’ve had, Dr. Rakus has had a particularly strong impact on my growth. She challenges her students to produce excellent work and gave me the opportunity for my first internship, which kickstarted my professional development," said Elizabeth.
One of GMercyU’s greatest strengths is its student-to-faculty ratio. Not only have I built meaningful relationships with my marketing and business professors, but I’ve also connected with professors I had just once for a general education class.
Internships
During her sophomore year, Elizabeth interned with GMercyU's Advancement Department, which fundraises for the University. There, she applied many of the marketing principles she learned in class. From June to December 2025, she served as an Advancement Intern at Lansdale Catholic High School, further applying what she learned from class and in GMercyU’s Advancement Department. Both experiences helped prepare her for her next internship.
In March 2026, Elizabeth started a six-month marketing internship at Organon, a global healthcare company focused on improving the health of women. There, she is supporting the Biosimilars Team, working with creative agencies for media and asset development, analyzing website metrics across several Organon sites and making recommendations, helping to enhance an existing patient support program, and conducting competitive analysis.
Life on Campus and Beyond
As a commuter student, Elizabeth loves spending time on campus with friends and as a member of the University’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success, GMercyU’s Student Marketing Association, and Bible Study.
An active alum of her high school, she also makes time to serve on Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School’s Young Alumnae Committee and attends the school’s Young Alumnae Faith Group. Last fall, she served as a production assistant for GMAHS’s school musical.
Why Choose GMercyU
"You will learn the ins and outs of marketing and gain knowledge and skills that will absolutely prepare you for a career. As a high school senior, I felt that I knew what a marketing degree entailed – I was wrong. It is far more in-depth than is often realized," she said of her major.
"GMercyU not only provided with me an understanding of marketing foundations, but also helped me discover which areas of marketing align best with my strengths."
Launching Her Career
After graduation, Elizabeth would be thrilled to continue working at Organon.
"But I also definitely have a soft spot in my heart for institutional advancement! So it will ultimately depend on the opportunities available to me when I graduate," she said.
