GMercyU Hosts Carolyn Jones and The American Nurse

In conjunction with Einstein Medical Center Montgomery and Iota Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, Gwynedd Mercy University's Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions hosted Carolyn Jones and The American Nurse Project on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

The American Nurse Project chronicles the lives of nurses from across the country through both still images and video. Award-winning filmmaker and photographer Carolyn Jones first published The American Nurse Project in 2012. The photography book captures the lives of 75 nurses across all disciplines. Jones extended the project by producing a documentary with the same name in 2014. The film digs deeper into the lives of five nurses ranging from a nurse in the country's largest maximum security prison to a nun who runs a nursing home on a farm.

GMercyU faculty, alumni, local hospitals and members of Iota Kappa were all in attendance. After the lecture, Jones hosted a booksigning where members of the audience received personalized messages in their own copies of The American Nurse Project.
