GMercyU Student Teacher Luncheon

Gwynedd Mercy University's School of Education celebrated the successful completion of the seniors’ Student Teaching on May 4, 2016 during Teacher Appreciation Week. Students spent 16 weeks in either one or two placements working with a cooperating teacher to develop and refine the many skills learned throughout their Education program.

The first annual Student Teaching Luncheon, attended by faculty, staff, and seniors was a celebration of the students’ entry into the teaching profession. Students received pins blessed by Sister Kati McMahon, Special Assistant to the President for Mission and Planning, as well as other small gifts from the School of Education and the Alumni Association.

Also celebrated were five seniors who were named Outstanding Student Teachers by their supervisors. The Outstanding Student Teaching Awards were presented to James Bender, History: Secondary Education/Special Education; Jenna Caffarello, PreK-4/Special Education; Jacqui Gallagher, PreK-4/Special Education; and, Joanna Snodgrass, PreK-4/Special Education.

GMercyU's School of Education celebrates all of the students’ accomplishments and wishes them well as they join the thousands of other GMercyU alumni who are making a difference in many classrooms. Congratulations to all of our future teachers!
