Dr. Angela Reed represents the Sisters of Mercy at the United Nations; her particular approach is on a Human Rights/ Life Course approach to address human trafficking. She believes sex trafficking is a complicated topic caused both by demand for sex services and other social factors, including childhood abuse, social isolation, lack of education and local environmental factors.
Dr. Angela began researching sex trafficking in the Philippines in 2011, and then completed her PhD at RMIT University in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia.
Along with her assistant and translator Marietta Latonio, Dr. Reed wrote I Have a Voice - Trafficked Women in Their Own Words.
