Mission Statement:

In support of the mission, core values and learning outcomes established by Gwynedd Mercy University, the Academic Resource Center strives to provide individual, co-curricular support to students in their pursuit of academic excellence by offering peer tutorials, academic skills workshops, and computer resources in an environment that encourages learning. Our goal is to assist students to become independent and intentional learners.

General Information:

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) at Gwynedd Mercy University is the University's central location for academic support. The ARC can accommodate many of the academic needs of all students, faculty, and staff.

The ARC offers a host of key services: administration of placement assessment for writing and mathematics, a computer lab for students, various academic workshops, and academic advising for undeclared, undecided, and change of major students. However, what we are probably best known for is our one-on-one and small group tutoring. Content tutoring is provided to help students understand key concepts introduced by their professors; APA format, study skill, test-taking, and note-taking workshops are offered to assist students with foundation skills; and writing tutoring is available to help students learn or advance their writing skills for any course. The goal of tutoring is to encourage independent and intentional learning, by providing a supportive and open academic atmosphere, not to be a quick fix service. With this in mind, students are encouraged to use the ARC on a regular basis to best facilitate the learning process. The ARC is open to currently enrolled students and is free of charge.

We encourage you to visit us, to call us at ext. 21370 or e-mail us at . Your comments and suggestions regarding current and potential ARC services are always welcome. Click below for further information:
