Tamala Edwards

Tamala Edwards is the weekday co-anchor of Action News Mornings and is a regular co-host of Inside Story, conducting probing interviews with newsmakers like Governor Tom Corbett, Senator Bob Casey, Mayor Michael Nutter and others, as well as moderating many election debates.

Prior to joining 6abc, Ms. Edwards was the anchor of ABC's World News Now, and World News This Morning. She was also an ABC News correspondent based in the network's Washington, D.C., bureau covering education, religion, and culture for World News Tonight and other ABC News programs. Earlier in her career, Ms. Edwards was a staff writer at TIME Magazine. During the 2000 presidential election, she covered Vice President Al Gore's campaign and former New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley's campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Ms. Edwards has written on a diverse number of topics. The Education Writers Association awarded Ms. Edwards first prize for her contribution to TIME’s 1999 cover story, "What Makes a Good School." In its August 2000 issue, Vogue magazine named her a journalist for "The Next Establishment," and in November 2000, she was featured in Folio magazine's "30 Under 30" list.

Born in Georgia and raised in Texas, Ms. Edwards graduated from Stanford University with an honors Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations.

Donna Dorozinsky
Donna Dorozinksy '83 '85, RN, MSN, CCRC

President and CEO of Just in Time GCP (Good Clinical Practice)

Donna Dorozinsky is a registered nurse and an entrepreneurial business consultant and strategist. She is the Founder and CEO of Just in Time GCP (Good Clinical Practice). Just in Time GCP is a clinical trial consultancy and services company that assists pharma and biotech companies in all aspects of GCP compliance with a large focus on eClinical Technology and supporting business processes.

In 2022 Ms. Dorozinsky was named an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Philadelphia region. For the past 3 years, Just in Time GCP has been ranked by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing companies in America and was recently named an Inc. Magazine Best Workplace.

Ms. Dorozinsky began her career in clinical research at GlaxoSmithKline and has spent more than 30 years in drug development, assisting research organizations in achieving operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

Ms. Dorozinsky holds a Master’s degree from Widener University and is a two-time graduate of Gwynedd Mercy University, earning both an Associate and Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She has served on Gwynedd Mercy University’s Board of Trustees since 2020.

Jie Du, PhD

Founder of JDP Therapeutics

Dr. Jie Du is an accomplished entrepreneur, pharmaceutical executive and philanthropist. After a successful corporate career in the pharmaceutical industry, she founded JDP Therapeutics and served as its CEO and president until it was acquired in 2019. Dr. Du, at JDP Therapeutics, created and developed Quzyttir®, a proprietary drug product, and the only product indicated for acute urticaria.

During her early career, Dr. Du worked for Abbott, Merck and URL Pharma, and co-founded Frontage Laboratories. JDP’s acquisition allowed Dr. Du to focus on her efforts on philanthropy. Dr. Du donated $5 million to her alma mater, University of the Pacific, to establish the Jie Du Center for Innovation and Excellence for Drug Development, which is dedicated to pharmaceutical research and development, including pharmaceutical entrepreneurship and collaborations between industrial and academic scientists.

Dr. Du holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Pacific. She received many awards during her career, including the Great Philadelphia Minority Business Leader Awards and the Women of Distinction Award in 2019 and 2020. Dr. Du lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She currently serves on the Board of Regents at University of the Pacific (Stockton California). She also served on Gwynedd Mercy University’s President’s Council between 2015 and 2019.

 

Ellen Stang
Ellen Stang, MD

Founder and CEO of Progeny Health

Dr. Ellen (Ellie) Stang is a board-certified pediatrician who founded ProgenyHealth® in 2003 to address the need for improved care management and health outcomes for premature and medically-complex newborns admitted to a NICU after birth. Over the last 20 years, ProgenyHealth has grown its products and services and has added to its offering a Maternity Management Program as well as a Payment Validation and Assurances program. The company provides its services nationwide, working with mothers, infants and their families in all 50 states. Dr. Stang served as the company’s CEO since its founding, and in December 2022 brought in a new CEO. She has transitioned into an advisory role supporting the company as it continues to grow and expand and also serves as the Executive Chairwoman of the Board. ProgenyHealth® remains a market leader in its sector and is the only national, tech-enabled woman’s healthcare company devoted to Maternity and NICU Care Management.

Dr. Stang has received many awards and recognitions for her work, and most recently was selected as a 2023 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner in the greater Philadelphia region. She was also included on the Inc. Magazine 2023 Female Founders 200 list this year. She previously received the 2017 March of Dimes Roosevelt Award for Humanity. She was also selected as a 2015 Brava Award winner as a leading female CEO. In 2014, she also was a finalist for the Philadelphia Business Journal Innovation awards for Health Care CEO of the year. She was honored in 2013 as the Gold Winner for Female Entrepreneur of the Year at the 10th Annual International Stevie Awards for Women in Business in New York City. In 2012, Dr. Stang was recognized as one of Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women. She currently is a member of the National Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes and was a member of the Board of Trustees at Gwynedd Mercy University from 2014 -2023.
