GMercyU Awarded Transportation Grant

Gwynedd Mercy University was awarded a $1 million grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for its Pathways to Success project.

The project includes the planned construction of a "Loop Road" to improve access for emergency vehicles; a redesign of the University's Evans Road entrance; the creation of a pedestrian-friendly campus core; and the construction of additional walkways, including a connection to the Lower Gwynedd Township trails system.

"Once completed, the project will reduce vehicular traffic and improve pedestrian safety in the center of campus, enhance connections with the broader community, and advance a multimodal system that improves safety for all modes of transportation on campus," said President Kathleen Owens, PhD.

The grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through its Multimodal Transportation Fund.

"I commend Gwynedd Mercy University for its commitment to improve safety and quality of life both on campus and in the community," said State Rep. Kate Harper (R-61). "This is an important investment in the university's future."
