GMercyU’s Exercise Science Program Partners with PHIT Well Physical Therapy and Performance

Gwynedd Mercy University's Exercise Science program has established a new partnership with PHIT Well Physical Therapy and Performance, a multidisciplinary health and wellness practice in Manhattan. The collaboration creates new opportunities for student engagement, research initiatives, and professional development while strengthening connections between academic study and clinical practice.
Through the partnership, Exercise Science students will have access to observation, internship, and practicum experiences at PHIT Well. Students will have the opportunity to learn from professionals across physical therapy, sports performance, fitness, and wellness services while gaining exposure to an integrated approach to client care.
"One of the most valuable things we can offer our students is the opportunity to see how the concepts they study in the classroom are applied in professional settings," Colin G. Pennington, PhD, Director and Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at GMercyU said. "PHIT Well is doing exciting work in physical therapy, performance training, and wellness, and we're thrilled to create opportunities for our students to broaden their perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of the field."In addition to student placements, the partnership supports collaborative research efforts focused on evaluating clinical interventions and performance outcomes. Faculty and students will work alongside PHIT Well professionals on research-based case studies designed to explore the effectiveness of treatment approaches, return-to-sport protocols, and other evidence-based practices.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing evidence-based practice. By combining academic research with clinical expertise, GMercyU and PHIT Well aim to contribute meaningful insights that support improved outcomes for individuals participating in rehabilitation and performance programs.
The partnership is one example of how GMercyU's Exercise Science program connects students with professionals and organizations across the health and wellness industry. Through experiences that complement classroom learning, students develop the knowledge, critical thinking, and professional skills needed to succeed in a variety of health, rehabilitation, and performance-focused careers.
