GMercyU Tops the US News List for Private Regional Universities in the Philly Area

Gwynedd Mercy University is proud to be recognized as the highest-ranked private Philadelphia-area university in U.S. News & World Report's annual Best College Rankings for Regional Universities North.  

GMercyU ranked No. 30 in the Top Private Colleges Regional Universities North category and No. 45 overall in the Regional Universities North category. This places the University in the top 30% in both rankings. The rankings measure more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities on academic quality and graduate success.

D’Emilio, JD, President of GMercyU. “Being recognized as one of the region's top institutions is further confirmation of GMercyU’s dedication to excellence in all that we do." 

In addition to this recognition, GMercyU was ranked the 7th Best Value College in PA and placed in the top 11% in Best Value Colleges in America by Niche in its 2026 rankings. Niche also ranked GMercyU as the 8th Safest College in PA for 2026.  

Earlier this month, GMercyU earned the 2026 Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Award from Insight Into Academia magazine, awarded to U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to academic excellence, belonging, and community-building across all levels of campus life. This marks the second consecutive year GMercyU has received the honor. 

These accolades come as GMercyU continues to experience strong student demand, with three consecutive years of growth in new campus undergraduate students, and the highest number of first-year applications in more than 20 years for fall 2026.
