Samantha Peralte Receives Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Student
The Alumni Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Student is awarded to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to Gwynedd Mercy University and its Mercy Mission, as well as distinguished themselves in one or more of the following areas: academics, athletics, service, and/or leadership

Fully immersed in GMercyU’s campus life, Samantha Peralte dedicated her undergraduate years to creating a sense of belonging and positivity on campus, rooted in the belief that strong communities are essential to public health.

She has served as President of the Black Student Union, hosting events large and small throughout the year, and as an Orientation Leader, helping new Griffins make a successful start to college life. She served as Social Media Coordinator, Treasurer, and finally, as Vice President of the Student Activities Committee. In 2024, she helped launch a new University tradition, the Gwynedd Gala, leading the marketing efforts of the first sold-out gala and promoting the event in subsequent years.

Samantha completed an internship with the Office for Student Engagement and served in the Student Government Association as the Purchasing Treasurer. She also played on the Women’s Volleyball team during her junior and senior years.

She participated in numerous service projects during her undergraduate career, including an Alternative Spring Break service trip to Baltimore, Md., which focused on urban poverty issues. In 2024, Samantha was chosen for GMercyU’s Dublin Pilgrimage, where she immersed herself in the Mercy mission with her peers in Ireland.

Within the Public Health program, Samantha conducted a research project entitled, Finding the Missing Center: Importance of a Student Hub on Campus, which featured current GMercyU demographic data to explore who we are as a campus and how to interpret the data to create environments that are conducive to involvement, belonging, and overall student success. She presented her findings at the University’s 2026 Research Conference.

After graduation, she plans to earn her Master of Public Health degree and launch her career in the field.
