Education Graduate to Serve as Undergraduate Ceremony Student Speaker

Toni Robinson '26 will serve as this year's student speaker at the 2026 Graduate Commencement Ceremony.

Toni Robinson made an impact both in and out of the classroom during her college journey at GMercyU. As an Early Education/Special Education dual major, as well as the first Wissahickon Gwynedd Mercy University Opportunity Scholar, Toni completed her student teaching for the Wissahickon School District, Lower Gwynedd Elementary, and Stony Creek Elementary. She is excited to return to her home district after graduation, where she will help diversify its teaching staff to better mirror its student body, as envisioned by the generous donor who contributed to the scholarship.

Fully immersed in campus life, Toni was a member of the Black Student Union, the Environmentally Conscious Organization (ECO), the Education Outreach Club, and the Dance Team, where she served as social media coordinator. She participated in countless service opportunities for these clubs, along with representing the Pride Alliance and ECO as a Student Government Associate.

A naturally gifted communicator, Toni served as a speaker for the Pride Alliance Club, hosted tours for prospective students as a Griffin Ambassador, and was selected as one of only 10 students to proudly represent GMercyU in the Amazon Prime streaming program, The College Tour. An inspirational quote of Toni’s from the episode adorns a wall in University Hall.

A member of GMercyU’s Honors program, Toni was named to the Dean’s List nearly every semester and was inducted into both the Alpha Lambda Delta and Sigma Phi Sigma honor societies.

Toni was invited to participate in Teacher Day on the Hill in Harrisburg, where she met with State Representative Liz Hanbidge to advocate on issues of concern to educators. She also twice completed research during her undergraduate career. Last year, after participating in an immersion into the world of special education at Lindley Academy Charter School in Philadelphia, her cohort presented their research titled Boundary Spanning in School University Partnerships at the 2025 Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network conference in Hershey, Pa.

At GMercyU’s 2026 Undergraduate Research Conference, Toni presented Navigating the World within Our Walls: The Benefits of Global Learning Experiences, which examined the benefits that American pre‑service teachers gain through collaboration with international peers.

In the fall, Toni will begin her career as First Grade teacher at Shady Grove Elementary School in Ambler, Pa.
