Gwynedd Gala Raises More Than $5k for AdoptAClassroom.org

Students and staff at the 2026 Gwynedd Gala

GMercyU’s Student Activities Committee (S@C) hosted its largest Gwynedd Gala yet with 170 guests on April 17. The annual gala, now in its third year, took place at the Talamore Country Club in Ambler, Pa.

The gala serves as an end-of-the-year celebration and a fundraiser supporting a different charity each year as determined by the S@C. The gala raised more than $5,300 this year, which will be donated to AdoptAClassroom.org.

One of S@C’s executive council members, Respiratory Care major Tam Gilbert ’26, had pitched AdoptAClassroom.org as the recipient of the fundraiser in admiration of its mission. The organization helps hundreds of teachers per day purchase the school supplies they need to be successful and make a warm and welcoming classroom.

The funds raised at the gala will go specifically to helping teachers purchase school supplies for the classroom or for students in need. The funds have also been designated to support classroom events that teachers want to host.

This year’s gala was bittersweet for the S@C President Erin Huggard ’26, who helped launch the inaugural gala and plan the subsequent ones, putting the University’s mission into practice in a celebratory and meaningful way.

“Being able to create such an impactful and memorable tradition makes me feel so blessed,” said Erin, a Social Work major who graduates this May. “I have had an amazing time planning this gala, meeting new people through different charities, and watching the GMercyU community come together for a night of fun, dancing, and giving back. This event would not be possible without the other members of the executive council and the support of all the staff, faculty, and students."

Two returning S@C executive council members and four new members will host next year’s Gwynedd Gala, with plans to continue to grow the event.
