Athletics Announces Academic Elite for Fall 2025

"I am pleased to announce our Athletic Academic Elite, 167 student-athletes earned a 3.5 or better this fall," said Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo. "Our semester GPA (Grade Point Average) was a 3.39. The baseball team earned the highest men’s team GPA with a 3.53 and our women’s lacrosse team earned the highest women’s team GPA with a 3.63, but I would also like to state that our women's basketball, women's soccer, softball, and women's volleyball teams, who all turned in team GPA's of 3.5 or higher!" 

Established in the fall of 2021, the Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite award honors student-athletes who earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the given semester. Overall, the Gwynedd Mercy University student-athletes combined for a 3.39 GPA for the fall semester. The average is up from last fall’s (2024) 3.34 mark. Meanwhile, 38 Griffins turned in a 4.0 GPA and 167 reported a GPA of 3.5 or higher; both totals are better than last fall’s respective totals of 36 and 142.

With 30 members earning recognition, the baseball team placed the most student-athletes on the Fall 2025 Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Elite. For the women's teams, the soccer team placed 18 student-athletes on this semester's Academic Elite roster. Overall, 15 of the Griffins’ 16 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Championship-qualifying rosters achieved a GPA of 3.0 or better for the fall of 2025.

 "I would me remised not to thank all our coaches, staff, and advisors for all the work they do to keep our student-athletes on task," Mondilla said.
