Gwynedd Mercy University hit a record dollar amount for this year's #GriffinTuesday, its version of the national day of giving #GivingTuesday. The Day of Giving exceeded its goal of $30,000 by raising $36,651.

In addition to a record-setting dollar amount, the 136 donors who participated was a 51% increase over last year. For the last four years, the #GriffinTuesday total dollars raised have increased.

This year’s #GriffinTuesday theme was Invest in Student Success, with donors having the opportunity to donate to the following areas:

  • The GMercyU Fund (Area of Greatest Need)
  • College of Arts and Sciences and Professional Studies Excellence Fund
  • Frances M. Maguire College of Nursing & Health Professions Excellence Fund
  • President's Excellence Fund
  • Athletics Excellence Fund & Athletics Teams
  • Catherine's Cupboard
  • Tressider Family Fund for Emergency Student Basic Needs

This year, #GriffinTuesday included two match gifts, one anonymous donor who agreed to match dollar-for-dollar each donation up to $2,000 and another from GMercyU alumna Maureen Brunetti '71. Maureen's generously agreed to match every dollar donated by a College of Nursing alumni up to $5,000. Each match gift was complete.

#GriffinTuesday is a campus-wide initiative, with many University partners involved in the planning, execution and promotion of the campaign. These partnerships exemplify the University’s commitment to deepening the impact that philanthropy can have on our students and campus community.

The recent #GriffinTuesday campaign successes are just one of the impactful initiatives that have enabled GMercyU to surpass its original goal of its Mercy in Motion Campaign, which is set to close on December 31.

Although the current GriffinTuesday campaign has ended, gifts to support GMercyU can be made online to the GMercyU Fund anytime.
