5K Color Run Raises More Than $1,700
Students from GMercyU’s Public Health and Psychology programs, in addition to the Student Activities Committee (SAC), hosted a 5K Color Run on campus on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
A total of 73 runners and walkers from GMercyU and the local community participated in the event, raising more than $1,700.
Participants had the option to be timed and provided bibs, with snacks and drinks available at an SAC-hosted concession stand.
The funds raised will support GMercyU’s 2026 service-learning trip to Jamaica, where Public Health and Psychology majors will work with the Mustard Seed Communities, an international nonprofit organization that provides care to vulnerable populations, including adolescents living with HIV or who are new or expecting mothers. Some of the 5K funds will also go to GMercyU’s upcoming Gwynedd Gala, an annual charity ball that supports a cause chosen by students.
“While planning this year's events, both SAC and the Public Health program had the idea of holding a color run as a fundraiser. We decided to team up and make it a bigger event, instead of us each hosting one,” SAC President and Social Work major Erin Huggard ’25 explained. “I loved how much people loved it. I also loved the big color party at the end, where we all just threw color at each other and celebrated an amazing accomplishment!”
