Biology Program Offers a New Pre-Dental Track Option
GMercyU’s Biology program added a new pre-professional track offering for its students, the Pre-Dental Track, which will launch this fall.
While dentistry has always been a possible pathway for Biology graduates, this new track formally outlines a clear pathway to support their dental school application. The track features the specific coursework recommended for those interested in becoming a dentist. And, the Biology Program's Pre-Professional Advising Office will assist with dental school applications and preparing for the Dental Admission Test (DAT).
Biology majors can declare this track at the beginning of sophomore year or at any point until senior year, so long as they have taken the appropriate designated courses.
“We have seen an uptick in students interested in dentistry and are proud to offer this track that clearly defines the path to that specific career goal, in addition to our program’s other pre-professional tracks,” said Biology Professor and Program Director Michelle McEliece, PhD.
Biology majors can also choose from Pre-Med, Pre-Physical Therapy, or Pre-Physician Assistant track options, or opt to pursue the Biology degree without any pre-professional track.
The Biology program is designed to offer students everything they need for their next step, whether it’s for immediate job placement or graduate school. In fact, 100% of our Class of 2025 graduates have already secured jobs or graduate school placement just two months after graduation, with students either employed in a lab or headed to medical or PA schools, master’s and doctoral programs.
