Dr. Ellie Stang to Serve as Graduate Commencement Speaker

Dr. Ellie StangDr. Ellen (Ellie) Stang will serve as this year’s commencement speaker during the Graduate Commencement Ceremony.

Dr. Stang is a board-certified pediatrician and founder of ProgenyHealth, LLC, an organization she created in 2003 to address the need for improved care management and health outcomes for pregnant moms and their newborn babies. ProgenyHealth is the only national, tech-enables women’s healthcare company serving women, infants, and families through the milestones of maternal care – from conception and pregnancy to postpartum and parenting, with special expertise in managing premature and medically complex births and resulting NICU admissions. Her company provides 24/7 access to dedicated case managers who support families during their pregnancy and end up to one-year postpartum. Progeny’s program is providing moms with the support they need for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy birth outcome for their newborn.

Prior to founding ProgenyHealth, Dr. Stang dedicated her career to providing high quality healthcare to pediatric patients and their families. Her career has spanned working in a private pediatric practice in Bucks County, where she also served as Co-Director of the newborn nursery, to working as a Regional Medical Director for a managed Medicaid health plan in Philadelphia.

Dr. Stang has received many awards and other recognition for her work and was most recently selected as the 2023 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year winner for the Greater Philadelphia region. She was also included on the Inc. Magazine 2023 Female Founders 200 list. She previously received the 2017 March of Dimes Roosevelt Award for Humanity and was selected as a 2015 Brava Award winner as a leading female CEO. In 2014, Dr. Stang was a finalist for the Philadelphia Business Journal Innovation Awards for Health Care CEO of the Year. She was honored in 2013 as the Gold Winner for Female Entrepreneur of the Year at the 10th Annual International Stevie Awards for Women in Business in New York City and was recognized as one of Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women in 2012.

Today, Dr. Stang is the Executive Chairwoman of the Board at ProgenyHealth and serves on the National Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes. She served on Gwynedd Mercy University’s Board of Trustees from 2014 to 2023. Dr. Stang is frequently featured in the media discussing topics related to healthcare innovation, maternal and infant health, health equity, and NICU population health management.

Dr. Stang received her undergraduate degree from Dickinson College and her MD from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pa.
