GMercyU Continues Holiday Outreach Amidst Pandemic

Gwynedd Mercy University is having another successful Holiday Outreach drive for community partners in North Philadelphia amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Thanks to donations from and dedication of Student Government Association, Best Buddies, Student Athletes Activities Committee, and Sigma Phi Sigma, as well as our partnership with Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, our Mercy community assembled 70 Thanksgiving meal bags, donated over 1600 pieces of food, and gifted 70 Shop Rite gift cards to Mercy Neighborhood Ministries for distribution.

Mercy Neighborhood Ministries is located in Tioga, North Philadelphia, and provides essential services to children, families, and adults with special needs. Additionally, members of the Voices of Gwynedd and the GMercyU Alumni network are hard at work purchasing gift wishes for children who attend after school programs through Mercy Neighborhood Ministries.

Faculty, staff, and alumni of Gwynedd Mercy University also coordinated Thanksgiving meals and supplies for Christmas gifts, including wrapping paper and gift cards, to 17 families of the GESU School in North Philadelphia. GESU School is an elementary school founded by the Society of Jesus that is a national model for elementary education that benefits children from one of Philadelphia's most marginalized neighborhoods.

This tradition at Gwynedd Mercy University has been going on for over twenty years. Thanks to all of our collaborators at GMercyU and beyond for helping to Make Mercy Real for families during the holiday season this year.
