Rachel Shoener, DSc, OTR/L, FVRS serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Science and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy programs within the Frances M. Maguire College of Nursing and Health Professions. Dr. Shoener has been a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR®) for more than 20 years.
Most of her career was spent providing direct OT services to meet the specific and diverse needs of children and families. She is the owner and director of Live Fully Therapy Services, LLC, overseeing the delivery of OT, PT, ST, and reading support services for children in school and private practice settings. Dr. Shoener’s commitment to serving children and families extends beyond local collaboration into leading interdisciplinary teams internationally, partnering with community and government agencies to develop programs that advance education and healthcare services in rural Kenyan communities. Dr. Shoener has led the Occupational Therapy program's mission trip to Kenya to support the care of vulnerable children since 2024.
Dr. Shoener has been an Adjunct Instructor at Gwynedd Mercy University since 2020, teaching classes on the occupational therapy process: children and youth and case-based reasoning in community practice.
Dr. Shoener has publications in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy and the Journal of Occupational Therapy, Schools, & Early Intervention.
Dr. Shoener earned a DSc in Rehabilitation Sciences with a specialty in Early Intervention and School-Based Practice from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2026 and a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2002.
