Colleen Lelli, EdD is a Professor of Education and Director of The Jordan Center for Children of Trauma and Domestic Violence Education at Gwynedd Mercy University with more than 30 years of experience in education spanning early childhood, K–12, and higher education. Prior to joining Gwynedd Mercy University, she served as a Visiting Professor of Health and Wellness Education at Ursinus College and as Professor of Education and Director of the Barbara and John Jordan Center for Children of Trauma and Domestic Violence Education at Cabrini University for over two decades.
Dr. Lelli teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in education, including reading, special education, autism, and trauma-informed practices. Her research focuses on supporting children impacted by trauma, enhancing educator knowledge of domestic violence, and using children’s literature to build resilience and advocacy for vulnerable youth. She is the author of Trauma-Sensitive Schools: The Importance of Instilling Grit, Determination and Resilience and has published, presented, and provided professional development locally, nationally, and internationally.
A sought-after speaker, Dr. Lelli has been featured on podcasts, television programs, radio broadcasts, and webinars. Throughout her career, she has secured more than $1 million in grant funding to support educational and community-based initiatives.
Dr. Lelli has received numerous honors, including the NCAA Division III Faculty Athletic Representative of the Year Award, the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award, recognition as a YWCA Exceptional Woman, and induction into the Norristown High School Hall of Fame.
She remains actively engaged in community service and leadership, serving on the boards of organizations dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by trauma, violence, mental health challenges, and adversity.
