Meet Carly Jensen

Sports Management, 2022

Sports Management Student

Carly Jensen stumbled upon GMercyU when searcing on a college database while attending Marple Newtown High School. She was looking for a small, D3 school with a Sports Management program. She ultimately chose GMercyU because of the small class sizes and her grandmother is an alumna.

On campus, Carly is highly involved in intramurals and is curently interning with the department with Assistant Director of Intramurals and Recreation Maddie Herman. Together, they oversee the schedule and organize flag football and basketball games. In addition to Intramurals, Carly is a member of both Sigma Phi Sigma and Sigma Beta Delta, the International Honor Society for Business, Management, and Administration.

"I love all of the professors I've had in the Business school, but Mr. Mumford and Maddie Herman stand out the most," Carly said.

Many of the courses that Carly has taken have been with Mr. Mumford, and he also served as her academic advisor. Maddie has played many roles in Carly's experience here at GMercyU, including her boss for intramurals, her internship advisor, and her professor.

"She's been my mentor since my sophomore year and has been key to my professional and personal development," Carly said.

This summer, Carly plans to intern with the Philadelphia Flyers as their Community Relations Intern.

Carly will be graduating in December 2022. She hasn't begun looking for jobs, but is highly focused on building out her network. She hopes to work in community relations, planning theme nights, and working with charities for professional hockey, baseball, or football.
