Mercy in Action
Mercy is our middle name. Making a difference in our communities is what we do.
Gwynedd Mercy University was founded in 1948 by the Sisters of Mercy. For nearly 200 years, the Sisters of Mercy have been serving the most vulnerable among us, finding ways to heal the sick, administer to the poor, and educate the next generation of servant-leaders.
GMercyU carries forth their mission by preparing students for successful careers and lives filled with meaning and purpose. Our tradition of service touches everything we do, from classes to clubs to Alternative Spring Break trips and beyond.
A Few Things to Know About Us
Integrity, Respect, Service, and Social Justice are the Core Values that inform the GMercyU experience, with a special focus on the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy: Earth, Immigration, Anti-Racism, Non-Violence, Women.
Alternative Spring Break trips enable students to dedicate their spring break to serving communities in need across the country.
Mission trips, our Dublin pilgrimage, and serving with our Campus Ministry are other great ways to make a difference as a GMercyU Griffin.
In and out of the classroom, our students learn to become ethical leaders in their future careers.
Now, see how Mercy makes the difference in the careers of these alumni nurses and teachers.

Campus Ministry
A resource for all students that promotes the search for spiritual growth with an emphasis on service to society.
The community feel and the Critical Concerns of Mercy have brought really great people to GMercyU, and that’s enabled me to make bonds I’ll probably have for the rest of my life.”
