GMercyU Launches Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing
Program Will Help Meet the Need for a New Generation of Nurse Leaders
Gwynedd Mercy University has announced the introduction of a Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing degree program. To help meet the demand for highly skilled nurse leaders, GMercyU's DEMSN program is designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field and want to transition to a master's-level career in nursing in as few as 24 months.
"Today's growing need for competent and compassionate health care professionals makes this an ideal time to expand our nursing degree programs," said Ann Phalen, PhD, CRNP, NNP-BC, Dean of the Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions. "This program will build on the University's legacy of preparing highly skilled nurses who combine excellent clinical skills with a Mercy-centered focus on providing holistic compassionate care."
The DEMSN is a 24-month, 79-credit, full-time program offered on the University's Gwynedd Valley campus. Students will have access to advanced simulation labs and will complete a total of 765 hours of clinical preparation within the university's network of more than 100 regional health care providers. DEMSN graduates will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses and the Clinical Nurse Leader Certification Exam governed by the Commission on Nurse Certification. Gwynedd Mercy University's nursing programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing.
