GMercyU Eagles Pep Rally

The entire Gwynedd Mercy University community is counting down the seconds until the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New England Patriots in the 2018 Super Bowl, even our Pittsburgh-native President is getting in on the fun!

GMercyU's Student Activities Committee hosted an all-campus pep rally on Thursday morning. Students, faculty, and staff were invited to stop by to make their own dog mask, poking fun of the Eagles' underdog status this postseason, as well as test their Eagles knowledge in hopes of winning some free gear. Hobbit House also hosted their own pep rally in preparation for the big game. Hobbits sang the Eagles fight song and practiced their ABCS with the infamous E-A-G-L-E-S chant.

The Voices of Gwynedd also got in on the action, singing Fly Eagles Fly during their practice for their Black History Month Celebration. Parkhurst Dining is offering Super Bowl Specials for students on items such as pizza, wings, soda and dessert.

GMercyU has a long history with the Philadelphia Eagles, from community projects to diehard fans. Alumna Evelyn Nunez partnered with the Eagles last summer on a playground and mural project for Lewis Elkin Elementary School in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Business Professor Carlo Silvesti has had season tickets for more than 50 years and was honored by the team in 2015. The Eagles' mascot Swoop came to campus for a visit with Professor Silvesti's students as well as former player Harold Carmichael.
