Students Present Original Research at 12th Annual Conference

More than 135 students from various majors exhibited their original research both in-person and online, which can be found here, at the 12th Annual Research Conference. A student representative from Montgomery County Community College also presented research.
The annual University Research Conference provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to deeply engage in and connect with their chosen disciplines while developing valuable presentation skills and showcasing great work.
GMercyU Associate Professor and Biology Program Coordinator Michelle McEliece, PhD served as the Keynote Speaker. Dr. McEliece spoke on the topic "Why Research?" where she discussed the important role research plays in not only a student's academic career, but the life skills it helps strengthen such as confidence, competence, and problem-solving. Dr. McEliece credited conducting research as an undergraduate and graduate student for shaping her entire career.
Many students find that their research efforts produce materials useful for high-quality resumes, portfolios, curricula vitae, and publication. The conference also enables the University community to celebrate students' intellectual achievement and explore the growth and development of innovative research in the classroom.
In the welcoming remarks of the conference, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Stephen Greico, DMA expressed admiration for the students' commitment, perseverance, and enthusiasm for their respective fields, which is evident not only in their research but also in their overall academic pursuits.
At GMercyU, 100% of full time students participate in some sort of real-world experience, which for many is original research.
