Gwynedd Mercy University Assistant Vice President for DEI Tatiana Diaz and Senior Nursing student Demadelye Navarro were featured on The Race to Social Justice Podcast.

The Race to Social Justice Podcast is hosted by Keva White and John Kepner. The duo and their guests explore the myriad social and racial challenges facing the modern world. Kepner is also a member of GMercyU's Board of Trustees.

Tatiana discussed how her experience as an immigrant and international student shaped her career as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion professional in the higher ed space. She also shared about GMercyU's process in creating its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy.

"As a Mercy institution, we had good bones. Our mission and the Critical Concerns of Mercy provide good roots in which to continue the work of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion inside the classroom and out," Tatiana said.

Demadelye is an active student on campus, serving as a student worker in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion office last year and has been a key part of its initiatives during her tenure. Demadelye was inspired to pursue nursing in part to fill the health equity gap she experienced first-hand in her community.
