Joe graduated from Drexel University and came to Springfield School District (Delco) as an English teacher in 1973. Joe taught middle school for 13 years, was assistant principal and principal at Springfield High School for 12 years, and then served as Superintendent for over six years. Joe coached football, basketball, baseball, and dramatics during his years at Springfield School District and presented multiple presentations on curriculum and staff development.
Joe then served as Superintendent of Haddonfield School District for two years (2005 – 2007), and he is now entering his eleventh year as the Executive Director of the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Joe has more than 40 total years working in public education – with more than 30 years spent in educational leadership roles, including adjunct teaching positions at Temple University, Immaculata University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Gwynedd Mercy University.
Joe is a graduate of West Catholic high school, Drexel University (B.S. in Education), West Chester University (M.Ed. in English Literature), Rowan University (Principal’s Certification) and Immaculata College (Ed.D. in Educational Leadership). He has published several articles on middle-level learning, and has given numerous presentations on various educational topics at many major educational conferences. He currently serves on more than 20 different community Boards – all of which are focused on improving our communities and our school districts.
Joe’s fondest memories center around the outstanding families he came to know through his educational career. In the end, our legacy must be the people we have helped and the students, families, and staffs we have served.
