Dr. Amber Gentile is an Associate Professor of Neurodiversity and Special Education Leadership at Gwynedd Mercy University. She teaches in the doctoral program in educational leadership.
Previously, she was an assistant then associate professor of Teacher Education at Cabrini University, where she also served as the Coordinator of Undergraduate Special Education and Graduate Secondary Education programs.
Dr. Gentile earned her EdD in Educational Leadership as well as special education, principal, and superintendent certifications from Immaculata University. She is a graduate of West Chester University where she earned a master's degree in counseling with higher ed and secondary school certifications. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology with secondary social studies certification from Dickinson College. She is also a certified trainer in Youth Mental Health First Aid, Adult Mental Health First Aid, QPR Suicide Prevention, and Trauma Informed Practices.
She has diverse experience as an educator, including serving as an emotional support teacher in an alternative school, dean of students in a vocational/technical school, a high school administrator, academic coach, and a university department chair, professor, and program coordinator.
She enjoys providing professional development, presenting, and publishing on topics related to best practices in teaching and learning with a focus on removing barriers and providing equity in access to ensure all students are empowered to learn.
In addition to her professional experience, she is a board member of the Phoenixville Area Positive Alternatives (PAPA: a non-profit community-based organization to support positive youth development) and Soroptimist International of Phoenixville (an international organization with a mission to transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities).
