Justin McClain, PhD, Assistant Professor of Biology, joined the faculty at Gwynedd Mercy University in 2013. He earned his B.A. in biology from Arcadia University, his Ph.D. in physiology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and conducted his postdoctoral training at the University of Kentucky.
At GMercyU, Dr. McClain teaches Advanced Physiology I & II, molecular biology laboratory, and directs undergraduate student research projects. His research interests focus on understanding how the brain’s neuroimmune cells contribute to alcohol-induced brain dysfunction and degeneration. Current projects in Dr. McClain’s lab utilize cell culture models to investigate changes in neuroimmune cell function caused by exposure to alcohol.
