Applying to the Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions

The Master of Science and Doctoral in Nursing programs prepares professional nurses for advanced practice nursing professions as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), with a concentration in adult with gerontology, Nurse Practitioner (NP), with specializations in adult gerontology or pediatrics, or Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), which serves as a basis for doctoral study. A 25-credit Post-MSN Primary Care certificate program to become a Nurse Practitioner with specializations in adult gerontology and pediatrics is also available. Admissions Requirements for MSN Programs:

  1. Online application.
  2. Two references from professional nurses.
  3. Personal Goal Statement (required for applicants with a 3.4 GPA or higher). NR Goals Statement
  4. Enriched Nursing Application Essay (required for applicants with a 3.3 GPA or lower). Enriched Application Essay
  5. CV/Resume
  6. A minimum of six months current clinical practice experience as a registered nurse.  Applicants for the pediatric program are expected to have pediatric nursing experience.
  7. Official sealed transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.  (An undergraduate statistics and physical assessment course are required).
  8. Valid RN license.
  9. Applicants with an active RN and a bachelor's degree in another field are required to take the National League for Nursing Baccalaureate Achievement (NLN) exam, free of charge at Gwynedd Mercy University.

Admissions Requirements for Post-Masters Certificate (Primary Care)

  1. Online application.
  2. Master’s degree with a major in nursing from a program approved by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLN-AC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  3. GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  4. CV/Resume.

  8. Graduate courses in Pathophysiology and Pharmacotherapeutics for the APN.

Start Non-Matriculated and Kick Start your Graduate Studies! Start non-matriculated and don't miss out on a semester. Applying to the Master of Business Administration (MBA)

For those pursuing a master’s degree in business administration, Gwynedd Mercy University offers a 30-credit, part-time, accelerated MBA with a focus in Strategic Management and Leadership that is taught in the classroom, allowing flexibility for the working adult. Finish in two years or less. Attend evening courses meeting twice a week for seven weeks, taking one course at a time.

Admission Requirements:

  1. Online application.
  2. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university; normally with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  3. The official sealed college transcript of the posted baccalaureate degree.
  4. Two supervisory letters of recommendation.
  5. Students without a business worries:  Six one-credit foundation courses are required for students who did not take the prerequisite business course material as an undergraduate. These foundation courses are online, self-paced courses that take approximately 15 to 20 hours each. These courses are to completed before becoming accepted into the MBA.

    6.  Evidence that international applicants have received a minimum score of 575 on the TOEFL examination.
