For those pursuing a master’s degree in education, Gwynedd Mercy University offers unique degree options designed with your unique goals in mind. SEE INFORMATION ON APPLYING TO THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The following materials are required in order for you to be considered for acceptance into a graduate education program:

  1. A completed graduate application.  DOWNLOAD - APPLICATION FORM

  2. A $30 application fee is required, checks and money-orders are accepted and should be made out to Gwynedd Mercy University.

  3. Two professional references.  References must be completed by academic professors or supervisor. GPS Reference Forms (PDF)

  4. A registration form.  GPS Registration Form

  5. Official sealed undergraduate transcripts where your degree was conferred.

    • Applicants for Elementary and Secondary Education certification must have completed at least 6 semester credits in college level mathematics and at least 6 credits in college level English composition and literature.

    • Applicants without previous teaching experience may be required to complete undergraduate coursework as a requirement for certification.

  6. Master of Science in Special Education and Certification Only:  A copy of your valid instructional certificate is required. If you do not hold a valid instructional certificate, you must take and pass the three Praxis I exams.

Disclaimer:  Students with an undergraduate GPA under 3.0 will be considered on a case-by-case basis and are encouraged to apply.  Previous graduate coursework may reduce program length.

Applying to the Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions

The Master of Science and Doctoral in Nursing programs prepares professional nurses for advanced practice nursing professions as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), with a concentration in adult with gerontology, Nurse Practitioner (NP), with specializations in adult gerontology or pediatrics, or Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), which serves as a basis for doctoral study. A 25-credit Post-MSN Primary Care certificate program to become a Nurse Practitioner with specializations in adult gerontology and pediatrics is also available. Admissions Requirments for MSN Programs:

  1. Online application.
  2. Two references from professional nurses.  DOWNLOAD — Reference Form
  3. Personal Goal Statement (required for applicants with a 3.4 GPA or higher). NR Goals Statement (docx)
  4. Enriched Nursing Application Essay (required for applicants with a 3.3 GPA or lower).  For those who do not choose to submit this essay, MAT or GRE scores are acceptable.  Enriched Application Essay (docx)
  5. CV/Resume
  6. A minimum of six months current clinical practice experience as a registered nurse.  Applicants for the pediatric program are expected to have pediatric nursing experience.
  7. Official sealed transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.  (An undergraduate statistics and physical assessment course are required).
  8. Valid RN license.
  9. Applicants with an active RN and a bachelor's degree in another field (i.e., not nursing) are required to take the National League for Nursing Baccalaureate Achievement (NLN) exam. Contact Office of Graduate Admissions for details at 267-448-1349.

Admissions Requirments for Post-Masters Certificate (Primary Care)

  1. Online application.
  2. Master’s degree with a major in nursing from a program approved by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLN-AC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  3. GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  4. CV/Resume.
  5. Statement of Advanced Practice Nursing Goals.  NR Goals Statement.doc
  6. Valid RN license.
  7. Two letters of reference from healthcare professionals.  NR Recommendation.doc
  8. Graduate courses in Pathophysiology and Pharmacotherapeutics for the APN.

Non-Matriculated Option-Kick Start your Graduate Studies!
Start non-matriculated and don't miss out on a semester. Take up to (2) courses or six credits while compiling your documentation for formal acceptance...courses are NUR 530, NUR 610 and NUR 510 or electives approved by the MSN director.  Applicants requesting non-matriculated status complete an online application and submit copies of their undergraduate transcripts to the Director of Graduate Admissions for approval.  For information contact the Office of Graduate Admissions at 267-448-1349 or at graduate@gmercyu.edu

 

Applying to the Master of Business Administration (MBA)

For those pursuing a master’s degree in business administration, Gwynedd Mercy University offers unique degree options designed with your unique goals in mind. These graduate programs are offered in a 100% accelerated online format to allow for flexibility for the working student.

Admission Requirements

  1. A completed and signed application and application fee.
  2. A $30 application fee is required, checks and money-orders are accepted and should be made out to Gwynedd Mercy University.
  3. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university; normally with a GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  4. The official sealed college transcript of the posted baccalaureate degree.
  5. Two supervisory letters of recommendation. GPS Reference Forms (PDF)
  6. A registration form.  GPS Registration Form
  7. Students without a business degree. Six one-credit foundation courses are required for students who did not take the prerequisite business course material as an undergraduate. These foundation courses are online, self-paced courses that take approximately 15 to 20 hours each.

  8. Evidence that international applicants have received a minimum score of 575 on the TOEFL examination.
