Peer Mentoring Association
Become a Peer Mentor
Help your peers and educate the Gwynedd Mercy University community about mental health issues by joining the Peer Mentoring Association. As a PMA member, you’ll act as a peer advocate and educator and can be trained by Counseling Services to act as a Peer Mentor.
The purpose of the Peer Mentoring Association is to:
- Promote and sponsor programs addressing issues that impact college students such as relationships, drug/alcohol use, family issues, sexual assault, eating disorders, AIDS, depression/suicide, tolerance, etc.
- Serve as peer mentors by being available to students who are experiencing difficulties that impact their academic success and personal lives
- Serve as a referral network for the Counseling Services staff
To join PMA, you must be in good disciplinary and academic standing, with a GPA of at least 2.0. You must attend the regularly scheduled meetings and commit to promote, sponsor and participate in programming offered by PMA during the academic year. Members who have completed training sessions conducted by Counseling Services staff can be considered a Peer Mentor and provide mentoring services to peers.
