Griffin Madness 2015
Griffin Madness 2015 was one to remember. The annual tradition, hosted by Student Government Association (SGA), has become the unofficial kickoff to the basketball season and a true display of school spirit for the past eight years.
Students, faculty, staff and members of the GMercyU community filled The Griffin Complex from wall to wall to watch and participate in the numrous activities, including a wing-eating contest and men's and women's basketball scrimmages.
Campus Minister Lauren Ducharme and Resident Director Michelle Murray put their quick wit to good use as MCs of the event while Women's Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Keith Mondillo and Men's Head Basketball Coach John Baron reffed the games.
The evening started with the ever-so-popular Faculty/Staff Basketball game. Some of GMercyU's most beloved faculty and staff showed off their skills to earn bragging rights, including President Owens, PhD.
Junior basketball player Cedric Elleby was honored for raising the most money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. SGA and the GMercyU community also collected canned goods which will be added to Campus Ministry's Thanksgiving baskets given to Mercy Neighborhood Ministries.
