GMercyU Ranks Among Best Schools in the Nation

Gwynedd Mercy University ranked among the top 500 schools in the nation, according to the inaugural Wall Street Journal/ Times Higher Education College Rankings.

The rankings are based on 15 factors across four categories: outcomes, resources, engagement and environment. Designed to answer the questions that matter most to students and their families when deciding on a college or university, the rankings focused more on student outcomes than on standardized test scores and admissions rates. The scores were gleaned from NCES, College Scorecard, and THE US Student Survey results.

The student survey included 100,000 college students who answered questions about their interactions with professors, collaboration and critical thinking, and whether they would recommend their school to other students. For a university to be considered for the rankings, at least 50 students needed to respond to the survey.

According to the survey’s methodology, outcomes accounted for 40% of a school’s overall score, and included graduation rate, salary, loan repayment rate and academic reputation. Resources accounted for 30% of a school’s overall score, and included university spending per student, faculty per student, and faculty research. Engagement accounted for 20 percent of a school’s overall score, and included student engagement, recommendations, interactions with professors and number of accredited programs. Environment accounted for 10 percent of a school’s overall score, and included information about diversity and inclusion.

GMercyU tied at spot 492.
