GMercyU Holds Annual Thanksgiving Collection

The Gwynedd Mercy University community donated Thanksgiving baskets and meal bags to families served by Mercy Neighborhood Ministries and the Gesu School in North Philadelphia.

Members of the GMercyU Community, as well as Gwynedd Mercy Academy, collected all of the fixings for Thanksgiving meals. The 75 meal bags collected will be given to those who benefit from Mercy Neighborhood Ministries and the baskets will benefit 20 families from the Gesu School. The baskets and mealbags were delivered by Campus Ministry and Sigma Phi Sigma members on Monday afternoon.

The Gesu School serves some of the poorest ZIP codes in the Philadelphia region, and one out of three families has an income below the Federal Poverty Level. Each year, the school identifies families in need of a little extra help during the holiday season. GMercyU's Campus Ministry then matches those families with a participating department on campus.

Prior to the Thanksgiving break, faculty, staff, and students gathered at the University's annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service to bless the food baskets.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone on campus who contributed to the baskets and their safe delivery. Happy Thanksgiving!
