GMercyU Celebrates Annual Thanksgiving Collection

As part of its annual Holiday Outreach program, Gwynedd Mercy University donated Thanksgiving baskets for families served by the Gesu School in North Philadelphia and Mercy Neighborhood Ministries.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy also took part in the collection, which included all of the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal and will benefit more than 80 families. The baskets were delivered by Campus Ministry and Sigma Phi Sigma on Monday afternoon.

The Gesu School serves some of the poorest ZIP codes in the Philadelphia region, and one out of three families has an income below the Federal Poverty Level. Each year, the school identifies families in need of a little extra help during the holiday season. GMercyU's Campus Ministry then matches those families with a participating department on campus.

Prior to the Thanksgiving break, faculty, staff, and students gathered at the University's annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service to bless the food baskets.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone on campus who contributed to the baskets and their safe delivery. Happy Thanksgiving!
