Kathryn L. Reinhard

Assistant Professor, Religious Studies

Kathryn L. Reinhard is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Gwynedd Mercy University and has been part of the faculty since 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre from New York University and spent several years working as a professional actor in New York City. Dr. Reinhard received a Master of Divinity, as well as a Master of Sacred Theology, from Yale Divinity School, and completed her doctorate in Systematic Theology at Fordham University. She teaches a number of general education requirements in Religious Studies. Her pedagogy is focused on promoting religious literacy across multiple, diverse, faith traditions in order to help students of many backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs to become better citizens of the world.

Dr. Reinhard’s research interests include trinitarian theology, pneumatology, recognition theory, feminist theology, theories of race, gender and sexuality, ecclesiology, performance theory, modern Protestant theology, Augustine of Hippo, Julian of Norwich, Rowan Williams, and Eberhard Jüngel. Her research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and she is active in both the American Academy of Religion and the Catholic Theological Society of America. She currently has two projects, one book chapter and one monograph, forthcoming from Fortress Academic/Lexington Books.
