New Student Orientation at Gwynedd Mercy University
Welcome to Gwynedd Mercy University!
New Student Orientation: Thursday, August 22, 2013 to Sunday, August 25, 2013 (Register Below)
Now, a word from our Student Planning Team…
“I chose to come to Gwynedd Mercy University because of the values it stood for and the fact that my future would be put into focus here. When I arrived on campus, the Orientation Leaders and staff reassured me that I chose the right school and would be extremely successful and loved. My dream for the incoming class is that you feel the same warmth and love that I felt when I stepped on campus! Get ready to have a blast because Orientation is bound to be a great time.” – Ashlei Miller ’14, Orientation Planning Team member
“The moment I stepped onto campus I knew that this is where I belonged – I could just feel it. I knew Gwynedd Mercy University was going to be my home away from home and I couldn't wait to start my future. When I arrived for Orientation, every person and all the events were everything I had hoped for and more. I hope that I can be as resourceful and welcoming to the new class as my Orientation Leaders were to me. New Gwynedd Mercy University students, I hope that you can also feel the same belonging that I felt coming onto this campus. I can assure you that Orientation will be an experience that you will never forget and it will help build important relationships that will last a lifetime.” – Ashlyn Emery ’15, Orientation Planning Team member
“As a transfer student, I came to Gwynedd-Mercy for one main reason - personal connection. I liked the idea that there were small classes and all of my professors knew me by name within the first two weeks. It gave me a sense of community and belonging. It also allowed me to feel pride. Pride in the University, pride in myself, and pride in others. With education comes power. With power comes knowledge, and knowledge prepares you to make decisions. My hope is that Orientation will not only help you to begin your future but to create lasting memories. With your education built off of Gwynedd-Mercy’s foundation you can achieve anything you want. I hope you are all ready to begin the best time in your life! Welcome to Gwynedd!” – Rich Levy ’13, Orientation Planning Team member

Students - excited to see what the city and surrounding areas have to offer? Sign up for one of our Saturday excursions – or stay on campus and explore for the day with entertainment to follow that evening. Transportation to and from campus is included. Orientation Leaders and beloved faculty/staff will be taking these trips as well!
Sign up today and we will take care of the rest. For Saturday, August 24th, choose from:
1. Dorney Park/Wildwater Kingdom: Two Great Parks in one location! Cool down you’re your new classmates during the day at Wildwater Kingdom or test your limits in Dorney Park on one of the roller coasters or thrill rides. This is a day trip!!
2. Eastern State Penitentiary: Once the most famous prison in the world, Eastern State Penitentiary now houses a lot of history, architecture and even rumored hauntings. This was the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone
3. Philadelphia Phillies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks: Whether it is your first Phillies game or if you are a seasoned fan, come cheer for America’s favorite pastime in one of Philadelphia’s greatest landmarks – Citizen’s Bank Park. Game time is 7pm. **in order to secure a spot on one of our off campus excursions, a $10 reservation fee must be received. Checks can be addressed to Gwynedd Mercy University with your choice excursion in the memo line**
Faculty and Staff participation is key to a successful orientation program!
There are two opportunities for faculty and staff to meet and interact with our new students. First, participate in our Service Day during the morning of Friday, August 23rd. Small groups will be on campus and off, working with the community. If you are interested in serving as a site leader and participant, please contact Christine Eberle email@example.com in Campus Ministry.
Faculty and Staff are also welcomed to help with our off-campus excursions on Saturday, August 24th. New students and Orientation Leaders will be taking a day trip to Dorney Park/Wildwater Kingdom, a day trip to Eastern State Penitentiary, or will spend an evening at Citizen’s Bank Park watching the Phillies take on the Diamondbacks. Thank you for your interest and stay tuned for available opportunities to meet and greet our new students!
