You are here

The School of Education prepares students for successful careers as teachers, administrators and other leading positions in the field of Education. With a career-centered approach and partnerships with local school districts, the School of Education ensures that students are well prepared for employment opportunities after they graduate with their education degree from Gwynedd Mercy University.

Both the undergraduate and graduate divisions of the school of education offer a variety of programs to meet the pre-service and in-service needs of education professionals. With an emphasis on classroom experience, students are able to continually develop and hone their teaching skills. Undergraduate students will explore and master their teaching skills in our TAP (Teacher Apprentice Program) program, which places students in the classroom every week for six semesters, beginning their freshman year. With small classes that allow for individualized attention and guidance, students flourish in the two undergraduate education degree program options and six graduate education program options in the School of Education. Gwynedd Mercy University students have a 100% pass rate on the PRAXIS exam. Gwynedd Mercy University also offers a teacher certification option for those who already retain a bachelor's degree and want to earn an Instructional I Certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The School of Education offers students the latest research and information on optimal learning practices and processes-as well as technological resources in the classroom. Gwynedd Mercy University is collaborating with Teachscape®, to provide industry-leading solutions, technology and services for the future educators from Gwynedd Mercy University. Teachscape® has partnered with respected institutions including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to streamline its approach with the necessary tools for producing dynamic schools and teachers.

In U.S.News & World Report's 2013 edition of "Best Colleges," Gwynedd Mercy University ranked in the first tier of its category, which is largely attributed to its high graduation and retention rates.
