The business club is open to any business student. The business club meets on a monthly basis, in addition to their meetings the business club will host guest lectures and workshops throughout the year. Participation in the Business Club opens students up to many networking opportunities with area business professionals. Some students have secured internships through these networking opportunities.
Students in the club are given the opportunity to hear lectures from professionals in the field, who give the students advice on how to best prepare themselves for a career in business, and bring in real world topics relevant to what the students are learning in the classroom. The club helps students to develop self-confidence, networking and communication skills, and the ability to handle themselves in professional situations. Students can also attend regional and national meetings to interact with students from other clubs and business professionals outside of the local area. The business club also hosts two social events per year for members and invited guests.
In addition the North Penn Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) has adopted Gwynedd Mercy University’s Business Club as an exclusive student group. The unique partnership will allow students to gain firsthand accounting and finance experience, while networking with area business leaders. The IMA is the worldwide association for accountants and financial professionals working in business. The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential is offered by the IMA. Continuing education seminars are provided to fulfill requirements for both the CMA and CPA designations through IMA.
