Gwynedd Mercy University offers graduate nursing programs designed to meet the needs of professional nurses as they advance their higher education and continue on their professional paths. Our innovative Master of Science in Nursing program is delivered by our renowned Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing & Health Professions. Taught by highly respected faculty, these specialized programs are designed to help the next generation of leaders in the nursing profession achieve their career goals while improving the health and wellbeing of all people.
The Gwynedd Mercy University Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing & Health Professions educates the next generation of advanced healthcare professionals – healthcare leaders and scholars who are morally receptive and strive to improve the health and welfare of all people, while being sensitive to differences in culture and issues of justice.
Gwynedd Mercy University’s Master of Science in Nursing program prepares professional nurses for advanced practice and leadership opportunities in the field of nursing and provides a foundation for future study at the doctoral level. The University has distinguished itself from other nursing schools in Pennsylvania with four concentrated areas of specialization where students sharpen their expertise beyond the foundational curriculum.
Clinical Nurse Specialists (Adult with Gerontology) learn how to deliver advanced nursing care in ambulatory, acute, home, rehabilitative, and long-term care settings. Students in the Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care) track will focus on diagnoses and the prescription of medical, therapeutic, and corrective treatments. There are two options in the Primary Care track: Adult Gerontology or Pediatric. Nurse Educators are prepared to assume faculty positions in collegiate nursing programs. While each track provides specialized knowledge, all recipients of the Master of Science in Nursing Degree learn how to take a leadership role in their respective area of advanced nursing.
In addition, a post-master’s degree certificate program is also available in primary care with specializations in Adult Gerontology or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner options. With nursing schools in Philadelphia, Gwynedd Valley, East Norriton, and Bensalem, students can further their educations and their careers in a location that fits into their current professional life.
